Is it Safe to Drink Water?

In Cozumel, as in all of Mexico, it is not recommended to drink tap water. Despite the filtration systems in place, the tap water may still contain contaminants that can cause stomach issues or other health problems for visitors. That means: don't get the water in your mouth. Not when you drink it, not when you brush your teeth, and not when you shower.

Bottled Water

The resort provides every guest with a 1 liter glass refillable water bottle in your room. In all common areas, as well as near your room, there are water refill stations where you can fill your bottle with purified drinking water. It tastes fine, if not slightly salty (the island is made of limestone, so the water has a bit of mineral content and the seawater penetrates the aquifers). It's pretty easy to get used to once you learn to recognize the filling stations.
